Community Initiative

Providing Help, Hope,
and Housing

These challenges—and many others—are among the myriad causes of family homelessness. Through participation in the Family Promise program, volunteers recognize that addressing these barriers can significantly increase their ability to serve more families effectively and with lasting impact.

Community Initiatives: Providing Help, Hope, and Housing: At Family Promise of Collin County, we believe lasting change begins with a holistic approach. Our Community Initiatives reflect our commitment to providing HELP through essential services, HOPE through empowerment and guidance, and HOUSING as a foundation for stability.

  • HELP:  We meet core needs with services like food, childcare, clothing, health resources, and personalized case management to support each family's unique journey.

  • HOPE:  Families gain tools for success through financial literacy, counseling, tenancy preparation, and career readiness programs—building confidence and long-term self-sufficiency.

  • HOUSING:  From  shelter to rental assistance and transitional housing, we provide safe, stable options that help families regain independence.

Through collaboration with volunteers, community partners, and supporters, Family Promise of Collin County is creating real, sustainable solutions to prevent and end family homelessness.

Sustaining Success Beyond Shelter

At Family Promise of Collin County, one of our most impactful initiatives is post-shelter extended support. While securing housing is a vital first step, long-term stability requires addressing the deeper, root causes of homelessness. Through personalized case management, family mentoring, and ongoing support services, we help families build on their progress, overcome obstacles, and prevent a return to homelessness. Our goal is not just to help families find shelter—but to empower them to thrive.

Community-Based Solutions

Innovative Support, Powered by Collin County

At Family Promise of Collin County, we believe lasting solutions to family homelessness are built at the local level. Our strength comes from the compassion and creativity of our community. Current examples of innovative, locally driven support include:

  • Shelter Solutions: Partnering with local churches and property owners to provide safe transitional housing, including our current use of a parsonage to shelter families.

  • Childcare Access: Collaborating with early childhood education providers and church nurseries to support working parents with affordable, reliable care.

  • Transportation Support: Partnering with local automotive shops to help families with car repairs, ensuring access to jobs, school, and essential services. Limited transportation is also provided for program participants without a vehicle.

  • Career Readiness: In partnership with Texas Workforce, we provide families with access to career pathway training, job placement resources, and financial literacy workshops through Woodforest National Bank to build long-term economic stability.

  • Case Management & Counseling: Ongoing support helps families maintain housing, navigate challenges, and build resilience.
